What are the commonly used raw materials for injection parts?

Generally refers to large production, good formability, cheap, widely used plastics. General plastics include five kinds, polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polystyrene (PS), acrylic - butadiene - styrene copolymer (ABS), are thermoplastics.

① PP

Polypropylene, commonly known as 100 fold glue, similar to white waxy, transparent, light weight, good liquidity when injection, water absorption is less than 0.02%. The shrinkage rate of PP is 1.0-3.5%, and the appropriate thickness is 1.5-2.5mm.

The widespread use of PP in the automotive field mainly has two problems: easy combustion (will drop combustion) and low temperature environment brittleness. In view of these two problems, PP modification is made by adding appropriate additives in the practical application of industry. Easy to burn will add flame retardant; It is brittle at low temperature. It is mainly modified by adding other ductile materials, rigid particles or elastomers, such as rubber (EPDM), talc powder (TD), glass fiber (GF), etc. There are a lot of automotive products made with PP resin, a variety of instrument panels, door guard board, column guard board, bumper, water tank, decorative board, PP in the automobile application has more and more trend.

(2) PE

Polyethylene, one of the lightest plastics, translucent white waxy material, good water resistance, acid and alkali resistance, resistance to organic solvents, good electrical insulation. Shrinkage rate 1.5 ~ 4.0%, suitable thickness 1.0-2.5mm.

The biggest disadvantage of PE as an automobile material is that it is easy to burn. The simplest and most commonly used method is to add appropriate flame retardants to improve the combustion performance of PE. The main automotive products manufactured with PE include fuel tank, air duct, front seat decoration cover, air duct assembly (HDPE), left and right ventilation duct assembly, up and down wind vane connecting bar, left and right foot vent assembly, etc.

Summary:

Generally refers to large production, good formability, cheap, widely used plastics. General plastics include five kinds, polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polystyrene (PS), acrylic - butadiene - styrene copolymer (ABS), are thermoplastics.
